The battle against the AI slop taking over our day to day existence has been lost, it’s everywhere we look, and the nature of the beast is such it can only get worse, will get worse. Some welcome it, some do not care, but for those of us who do care the options for effective resistance are limited:

  1. The online space is the ideal medium for machine output, the human creator simply cannot compete with it there — the resistance needs to happen principally in the physical space of the real world, that’s where we have the upper hand, at least for the foreseeable future.

  2. We cannot effectively face up to the challenge as merely dissenting individuals. It is both the matter of scale, and how the real world works — for our resistance in the real world to be effective, we, the like minded, need to work together.

  3. The threat to human creativity from AI arises not so much from the fact AI exists and simulates human creativity, but because its proliferation prevents access to the genuine product — the fundamental focus of our resistance is on facilitating access to the genuine human creative outputs to stop them from effective eradication.

  4. We focus on the qualities of what we are offering and/or facilitating and won’t be distracted by the slop — we are not so much con AI as, fundamentally, pro human creativity. The one, and only, effective argument we can make is by showing what we do.

  5. In order to facilitate the sharing of human creativity in the physical space of the real world, we seek to establish real world communities, based on real world relationships in space and time.

  6. Effective resistance to AI slop hinges on building real world networks of trust as an alternative to the virtual networks of our day; small individual networks of trust can be assembled into a large web of trust over time.
