I was in the process of writing a detailed 2025 retrospective, then I thought, FFS, really?! So here are just some bullet points:

  • I got over the debilitating hip pain that I started the year with; it took four months of physiotherapy, and I need to keep up with my exercises, but it’s under control (and with thanks to Matt Williamson of Milngavie, much recommended),

  • It was quite a lean year photography wise, not much to show for the first 8 months of it, but I got the six decent prints I aspire to in the end (just), and have a few more promising negatives still to print,

  • I have a print showing at the International Juried Exhibition at Centre for Photographic Art in Carmel in the US (finishing this weekend); to say I am very please about that is an understatement, even though it’s been a pain getting the 30” x 26” framed thing over there,

  • I made some new, worth while, real life acquittances around analogue photography,

For 2026:

  • I hope to spend more time outdoors, I have only managed two short wild camps in 2025, itching for something a bit longer than the weekend outings (not the CWT though),

  • I want to grow a few more veggies in the garden this year; I am slowly beginning to suspect that the dream of a smallholding I have had for the last decade or so is not going to happen, so need to start thinking of plan B,

  • I want to whip the Also Scotland project I started working on in 2019 into an exhibitable shape this year; it’s one of those projects I could collect material toward for the next twenty years yet, but actually, I think I have enough, though there is a fair bit of printing, etc., to be done,

  • The photography website needs updating …,

  • I’d like to meet a few more of the Scottish analogue photography folk, so, in order to foster Analogue Relationships for Analogue Photography, Matt Sillars and myself are launching SNAP.

Anyway, have a good one friends!
